Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Sizing: Ensure you have selected the correct UK size 9 for an optimal fit. Mercurial boots are known for a snug, performance-oriented fit.
- Break-in Period: Like most high-performance football boots, the Air Zoom Mercurial Vapor XVI Elite FG may require a short break-in period. Wear them during light training sessions before competitive matches to allow the upper to mold to your foot for maximum comfort and feel.
- Lacing: Experiment with lacing patterns to find the most secure and comfortable fit for your foot shape, ensuring no excessive pressure points.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically engineered for Firm Ground (FG) natural grass pitches. The stud configuration is designed to provide optimal traction and stability on dry to slightly damp natural grass. Do not use these boots on Artificial Ground (AG), Turf (TF), or Indoor (IC) surfaces, as this can damage the studs, compromise performance, and may void any warranty.
Care
- Cleaning After Each Use: After every session, remove excess mud and debris from the boots, especially from between the studs. Use a soft brush or cloth and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct sunlight, radiators, or tumble dryers, as extreme heat can damage the materials and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Consider using boot trees or stuffing them with newspaper to help maintain their shape and absorb any residual moisture.
- Avoid Over-cleaning: While regular cleaning is important, excessive scrubbing or using strong detergents can degrade the upper materials, including the Gripknit.
