Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup and Break-in
- Initial Wear: Begin by wearing your new Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG boots for short periods during training sessions. This allows the materials, especially the `Gripknit` and `Flyknit` upper, to conform to your foot's unique shape.
- Lacing: Experiment with different lacing techniques to find the most secure and comfortable fit. Ensure the laces are snug but not overly tight, to avoid pressure points.
- Break-in Period: A short break-in period is typically required. Expect them to feel slightly snug initially; they will mold to your feet with use.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically designed for Firm Ground (FG) surfaces. This means they are ideal for use on natural grass pitches that are dry or slightly damp. Using them on artificial turf (AG), hard ground (HG), or extremely wet/muddy conditions is not recommended as it can damage the studs and soleplate, and may compromise your grip and stability.
Care Instructions
- Cleaning After Use: Immediately after each use, remove loose dirt and mud with a soft brush or damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Hand Wash: For a deeper clean, gently hand wash the boots with mild soap and lukewarm water. Do not submerge them completely or use a washing machine, as this can damage the materials and construction.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight, radiators, or tumble dryers, as excessive heat can cause materials to crack or shrink.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. Using shoe trees or stuffing them with newspaper can help maintain their shape and absorb excess moisture.
- Inspection: Regularly check the studs for wear and tear. Damaged or excessively worn studs can impact performance and stability.
