Setup, Compatibility & Care
Fitting and Setup
- Lacing: Ensure the laces are tightened evenly across your foot for a secure, locked-down fit. The Flyknit and Atomknit upper is designed to mold to your foot for a snug, supportive feel.
- Break-in Period: Like most high-performance football boots, the Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG may require a short break-in period to fully adapt to your foot shape and optimize comfort. Wear them during light training sessions before competitive matches.
Compatibility
These boots are explicitly designed for Firm Ground (FG) pitches. This means they are best suited for natural grass fields that are dry to slightly wet, providing optimal traction and preventing stud damage.
- Do NOT use on Artificial Ground (AG): Using FG studs on AG surfaces can lead to excessive stud pressure, discomfort, stud breakage, and potential injury. It can also void the product warranty.
- Do NOT use on Indoor (IC) or Turf (TF) surfaces: The studs are too long and aggressive for these surfaces, which can lead to instability and damage.
Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning After Use: Immediately after each use, remove loose dirt and mud from the boots using a soft brush or cloth.
- Washing: For deeper cleaning, use a mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh detergents or machine washing, as this can damage the materials. Gently scrub the upper and soleplate.
- Drying: Air dry the boots at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight or artificial heat sources (like radiators), which can cause the materials to crack or shrink. Stuffing the boots with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures. Consider using a boot bag to protect them during transport.
- Inspect Regularly: Periodically check studs, soleplate, and upper for signs of wear or damage. Promptly address any issues to extend the lifespan of your boots.
