Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Begin lacing from the bottom, ensuring the tongue is centered and smooth against your foot. Use the hook eyelets to tighten the laces progressively, aiming for a snug fit around your foot and ankle without being overly restrictive. A secure lacing helps prevent movement inside the boot and provides ankle support.
- Fit Check: Wear appropriate hiking socks. Your toes should not touch the front of the boot, and your heel should lift minimally. Walk around to ensure comfort and no pressure points.
Compatibility
The Karrimor Skiddaw Walking Boots are designed for various outdoor activities, including:
- Day Hiking: Perfect for local trails and nature walks.
- Trekking: Suitable for multi-day hikes on moderate terrains.
- General Outdoor Use: Ideal for everyday wear in outdoor environments where protection from elements and good traction are needed.
They perform well on mixed terrains, including dirt paths, gravel, and light rocky sections.
Care Instructions
To ensure the longevity and performance of your boots, follow these care steps:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially if muddy, wipe the boots clean with a damp cloth. Use a soft brush for stubborn dirt on the sole. Avoid harsh detergents.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources like radiators or fireplaces. Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do NOT machine wash your boots, as this can damage the materials, compromise the waterproof membrane (Weathertite), and affect their overall structure.
