Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Upon receiving your Karrimor Skiddaw Walking Boots, ensure a proper fit by lacing them securely. Use the hook eyelets to create a snug but comfortable feel, allowing enough room for movement without your foot slipping inside. It's often beneficial to wear the type of socks you intend to hike in when trying them on.
Compatibility
These boots are designed for use with standard hiking socks (wool or synthetic are recommended for moisture-wicking properties). They are suitable for a wide range of outdoor terrains, including forest trails, moderate mountain paths, and coastal walks. Their waterproof nature makes them compatible with changeable weather conditions.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After use, especially in muddy or dirty conditions, wipe the boots clean with a damp cloth. Gently remove any dirt or debris from the upper and outsole.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or open fires, as this can damage materials like the Weathertite membrane and adhesives.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash these boots. Machine washing can compromise the waterproofing, damage the structural integrity, and void any warranty.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight.
- Re-Waterproofing (Optional): Over time, the outer DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating may wear off. You can restore this with a suitable boot-specific re-waterproofing spray or treatment, following the product's instructions.
