Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup & Fitting
When first putting on your Karrimor Skiddaw Walking Boots, ensure you wear the type of socks you typically use for hiking. The hook eyelets allow for precise lacing. Start lacing from the bottom, pulling firmly but comfortably, ensuring your heel is seated at the back of the boot. Securely tie the laces, making sure there's no excessive pressure points but also no slippage around the ankle or heel. Walk around indoors to assess the fit before your first outdoor adventure. A proper fit is crucial to prevent blisters and ensure comfort.
Compatibility
These boots are primarily designed for outdoor walking, hiking, and trekking. Their waterproof and breathable properties make them suitable for a wide range of weather conditions, from dry to wet. The robust sole with DynaGrip makes them compatible with varied terrains including dirt trails, rocky paths, and slightly muddy surfaces.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your Karrimor Skiddaw Walking Boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially if muddy, wipe the boots clean with a damp cloth. Use a soft brush to remove dirt from the outsole tread. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Always air dry your boots naturally at room temperature. Do not place them near direct heat sources like radiators or fires, as this can damage materials and adhesives. Remove insoles to help speed up drying and air circulation inside.
- Waterproofing: Over time, the waterproof treatment on the Weathertite upper may diminish. Consider re-treating your boots with a suitable footwear-specific waterproofing spray or wax, following the product manufacturer's instructions.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash your boots, as this can damage the materials, compromise the waterproofing, and void any warranty.
