Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper preparation and care are essential to maximize the performance and longevity of Johnstone's Washable Matt Emulsion Paint.
Setup
- Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and sound. Remove any loose or flaking paint, dirt, or grease. Fill any cracks or holes and sand smooth. For bare or porous surfaces, a suitable primer or mist coat (diluted paint) may be required.
- Stirring: Before use, thoroughly stir the paint. This ensures that the color pigments and binders are evenly distributed for consistent coverage and finish.
- Application: Apply with a good quality brush or roller. For best results, apply two coats, allowing adequate drying time between coats. Avoid overspreading the paint.
Compatibility
- This paint is formulated for interior walls and ceilings. It is suitable for application on plaster, plasterboard, and previously painted surfaces.
- Not recommended for floors or high-moisture areas where specialized kitchen/bathroom paint with enhanced mould resistance is typically advised, unless adequate ventilation is consistently maintained.
Care
- Cleaning Painted Surfaces: For everyday marks and spills, gently wipe the affected area with a soft, damp cloth as soon as possible. Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners or scrubbing, which could damage the matt finish.
- Paint Storage: Store the paint in its original container, tightly sealed, in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and frost. Ensure the lid is firmly sealed to prevent the paint from drying out.
- Tool Cleaning: Clean brushes, rollers, and other equipment immediately after use with warm soapy water.
