Setup
- Measure Your Pole: Ensure your curtain pole is wide enough to accommodate the full width of your curtains when closed, plus enough extra length on either side for the curtains to be pulled back fully when open.
- Hang the Pole: Install your curtain pole securely above your window, ensuring it is level and firmly anchored, especially given the heavy nature of these curtains.
- Thread the Rings: Simply slide the rings of the curtain header onto your curtain pole. Evenly distribute the fabric along the pole for a neat appearance.
- Style: Once hung, adjust the folds to create an even, pleated look or a relaxed, flowing drape, depending on your preference.
Compatibility
These ring top curtains are designed for use with a standard curtain pole (sometimes called a curtain rod). They are not suitable for curtain tracks or systems requiring hooks. Due to the heavy fabric, a sturdy, well-secured curtain pole is highly recommended to prevent sagging or damage over time.
Care
- General Cleaning: Gently dust the curtains regularly with a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner or a lint roller to remove surface dust and maintain the fabric's soft pile.
- Spot Cleaning: For small marks, carefully spot clean with a damp, clean cloth and a very mild detergent. Blot gently; do not rub, as this can damage the velvet pile. Test in an inconspicuous area first.
- Deep Cleaning: Info needed: Refer to the care label for specific washing instructions. If no label is present, professional dry cleaning is generally recommended for velvet chenille to preserve its texture and color.
- Ironing: If necessary, iron on a low heat setting on the reverse side, or use a steamer from a distance, to avoid crushing the pile. Place a clean cloth between the iron and the fabric if ironing directly.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can fade fabric colors. Consider using blinds or sheers to protect your curtains during peak sun hours.
