Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Unpack Curtains: Carefully remove the curtains from their packaging. You may notice some creases from transit; these will typically relax over time or can be gently steamed on a low setting (avoiding direct iron contact with velvet).
- Prepare Curtain Pole: Ensure you have a suitable curtain pole installed above your window. Eyelet curtains require a pole, not a track system. The pole diameter should be smaller than the eyelet rings for smooth operation.
- Thread Curtains: Begin by threading the first eyelet of one curtain panel onto the curtain pole. Continue threading all eyelets, ensuring the fabric folds naturally.
- Position Curtains: Once both panels are threaded, adjust the spacing of the folds evenly for a neat, tailored look. Typically, the first and last eyelet should face towards the window or wall to create a clean finish.
- Hang: Place the curtain pole back onto its brackets.
Compatibility
These curtains are compatible with standard curtain poles. They are *not* designed for use with curtain tracks.
Care
To maintain the luxurious feel and appearance of your velvet chenille curtains, follow these care instructions:
- Machine Wash: Wash separately in cold water on a gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent.
- Do Not Bleach: Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals as they can damage the fabric.
- Line Dry: Hang curtains to line dry. Do not tumble dry, as this can affect the pile and drape of the velvet chenille.
- Low Iron/Steam (Optional): If necessary, iron on a very low heat setting on the reverse side only, or use a fabric steamer from a distance to remove stubborn creases. Do not press directly onto the velvet pile.
- Professional Cleaning: For best results and longevity, professional dry cleaning can also be considered periodically.
