Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup Instructions
- Choose Your Rod: Ensure you have a curtain rod (pole) that extends beyond your window frame by at least 6-12 inches on each side to allow the curtains to stack back neatly.
- Measure and Hang Rod: Install your curtain rod securely above your window, ensuring it is level. The rod diameter should be compatible with the eyelet rings (typically up to 35mm).
- Thread Curtains: Begin by threading the first eyelet of the curtain onto the rod, ensuring the fabric faces outwards. Continue threading alternating eyelets to create a wave effect, with the back of the curtain facing outwards for the last eyelet to ensure a neat finish.
- Adjust and Arrange: Once both curtain panels are on the rod, slide them into position. Gently arrange the fabric to create even pleats and a desired drape.
Compatibility
These eyelet curtains are designed to be used with a standard curtain rod or pole. They are generally compatible with most curtain poles with a diameter that fits through the eyelet rings. They are not suitable for curtain tracks that require hooks or rings.
Care Instructions
To ensure your Alan Symonds Velvet Chenille curtains remain beautiful and luxurious, follow these care guidelines:
- Machine Washable: These curtains can be machine washed. Use a gentle cycle with cold water to protect the fabric and colour.
- Use Mild Detergent: Avoid harsh chemicals or bleach, which can damage the velvet chenille fabric.
- Line Dry: After washing, gently reshape the curtains and hang them to line dry. Avoid tumble drying to prevent shrinking or damage to the delicate chenille pile.
- Ironing (if needed): If creases appear, iron on a low heat setting on the reverse side of the fabric, or use a steamer, being careful not to flatten the chenille pile.
- Regular Dusting: Periodically dust your curtains with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove accumulated dust.
