FAQs

Is the jacket machine washable?

Yes, it can be machine washed on a gentle cycle.

What age group is the 5-6 size intended for?

The size 5-6 is designed for children within that age range based on standard UK sizing.

Does the hood detach?

No, the hood is a 'grown-on' design, meaning it is permanently attached to the jacket.

Are the pockets deep enough for gloves?

The two zipped lower pockets are sized appropriately for small items such as gloves or a hat.

Is this jacket windproof?

While not technically classified as 100% windproof, the dense polyester construction and elasticated cuffs provide excellent wind resistance for everyday outdoor use.

Troubleshooting

Water begins to soak into the fabric instead of beading off.

The water-repellent finish may need reactivating. Wash the garment and apply a spray-on or wash-in DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment.

Zip feels stiff or sticks.

Check for debris or fabric caught in the teeth of the zipper and clear it gently.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Environmentally conscious design using recycled materials
High visibility features for added safety in low light
Secure pockets prevent loss of small accessories
Lightweight construction allows for easy movement

Cons

Not fully waterproof for heavy storm conditions
Fixed hood may not suit all layering preferences
Limited to cool weather use rather than extreme alpine temperatures

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To keep the Lofthouse jacket in peak condition, machine wash it on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Avoid using fabric softeners, as these can compromise the water-repellent coating. When drying, it is best to air dry the jacket away from direct heat sources to preserve the loft of the recycled insulation. Check the internal label periodically to ensure contact information is still legible for school identification.
