Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
When first using your new Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Pro AG boots, it's recommended to break them in gradually. Wear them for short training sessions initially to allow the material to mold to your foot and prevent discomfort. Ensure you lace them up correctly, creating a snug but not overly tight fit, to secure your foot and maximize responsiveness.
Compatibility
These boots are explicitly designed for Artificial Ground (AG) surfaces. The stud pattern is optimized for the specific characteristics of synthetic turf, offering the best balance of grip, maneuverability, and stud durability. Using these boots on natural grass (Firm Ground - FG or Soft Ground - SG) or hard court surfaces is not recommended as it can lead to premature stud wear, reduced performance, and potential injury.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe off any dirt or debris with a damp cloth. For tougher grime, a soft brush and mild soap can be used. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Always air-dry your boots at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, as this can damage the materials and adhesives. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Avoid leaving them in a cramped bag or humid environments for extended periods.
- Stud Inspection: Regularly check the AG studs for any signs of excessive wear or damage, especially if you occasionally play on less-than-ideal surfaces. Replace boots if studs are significantly worn down, as this impacts performance and safety.
