Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Upon first use, it's recommended to break in your Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Pro AG boots gradually. Wear them for short periods during training sessions before competitive matches. This allows the Flyknit upper to mold to your foot shape for optimal comfort and performance. Ensure you wear the type of football socks you typically use during play to get the most accurate fit.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically engineered with an AG-Pro soleplate for use on Artificial Grass (AG) pitches. While they may physically fit on natural grass (FG) or firm ground (FG), their performance, durability, and stud pressure distribution are optimized for synthetic turf. Using them on inappropriate surfaces can lead to reduced performance, accelerated wear, and potentially increase the risk of injury. Choose the correct boot size for a snug, performance-enhancing fit.
Care
To ensure the longevity and performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, remove loose dirt and grass particles with a soft brush or cloth. Wipe the upper with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the Flyknit or tacky finish.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct sunlight or use artificial heat sources (like radiators or tumble dryers), as this can cause the materials to crack or shrink.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Consider using boot trees or stuffing them with newspaper to help maintain their shape.
- Stud Maintenance: Regularly check the studs for wear or damage, especially if playing on particularly abrasive artificial surfaces. While AG-Pro studs are durable, excessive wear can impact traction.
