FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for long-distance running?
The Gel-Contend 10 is designed for everyday running and comfort; while it handles daily training well, professional long-distance athletes may prefer higher-tier models.
Can I replace the insoles with custom orthotics?
Yes, the insoles are removable and accommodate most standard orthotic inserts.
Are these waterproof?
No, the mesh upper is designed for maximum breathability rather than water resistance.
What is the best way to clean the mesh material?
Use a soft brush to remove dry mud, and a damp cloth with mild soap for localized cleaning. Avoid submerging the shoes in water.
Do these shoes run true to size?
Yes, the ASICS Gel-Contend 10 generally follows standard UK sizing conventions for adult trainers.
Troubleshooting
Feeling discomfort or pressure points during a run
Try adjusting the lacing tightness; loosening the laces over the midfoot area often relieves pressure.
Excessive moisture or sweat buildup
Remove the insole after your run to help it dry faster and ensure the mesh upper has adequate airflow.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Superior impact absorption from heel GEL cushioning
- Highly breathable upper prevents overheating
- Lightweight construction reduces fatigue
- Versatile design suitable for running and casual use
Cons
- Limited to neutral support profiles
- Color variations may affect availability
- Not specifically designed for trail or rugged terrain
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the best fit, verify your UK adult size before purchase. Since these trainers use a standard lacing system, you can customize the tension across the midfoot for a personalized hold.
Care Instructions:
- Remove loose dirt with a soft brush after use.
- If the shoes become wet, allow them to air dry naturally in a cool, shaded area.
- Do not place them in a washing machine or dryer, as this can damage the cushioning materials and adhesives.
- If needed, use a mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the exterior mesh; ensure the soap is thoroughly rinsed away.
