Product Information
Full details
The Brooks Ghost 18 is a premier neutral road running trainer designed for adult runners who prioritize a soft, smooth, and dependable ride during daily training or casual walking. Featuring nitrogen-infused DNA LOFT v3 cushioning, this shoe excels at providing shock absorption and seamless heel-to-toe transitions for a natural feel. While it offers exceptional versatility and a highly adaptable mesh upper, runners requiring significant structural stability for overpronation may find the neutral support profile insufficient for their specific needs.

FAQs
Is the Brooks Ghost 18 suitable for flat feet?
The Ghost 18 is a neutral shoe. If you have flat feet and do not overpronate, they can be comfortable, but those requiring arch support may need custom orthotics.
How many miles can I expect from these trainers?
Typically, the Ghost series lasts between 400 to 500 miles depending on your running surface, body weight, and gait.
Can I put these shoes in the washing machine?
No, machine washing can damage the structural integrity of the upper and the bonding agents. Hand cleaning is recommended.
Does the Ghost 18 come in different widths?
Brooks offers the Ghost line in multiple widths, though availability varies by specific retailer and region.
What is the primary difference in the version 18?
The Ghost 18 features an updated engineered mesh for a better fit and an improved outsole compound for increased durability compared to previous iterations.
Troubleshooting
Feeling pressure points on the top of the foot
Try adjusting the lacing pattern to a 'window lacing' style to relieve pressure across the midfoot while maintaining security.
Outsole slipping on slick surfaces
Clean the RoadTack rubber outsoles with a damp cloth to remove any caked-on debris or road grime that may be reducing traction.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Exceptionally soft and smooth landing with DNA LOFT v3 tech
- Highly adaptable engineered mesh fits various foot shapes well
- Durable RoadTack outsole provides excellent long-term wear
- Lightweight construction suitable for both speed and long-distance comfort
Cons
- Neutral platform is not intended for runners requiring stability features
- Limited to road and hard surface usage
- Breathable mesh may not be ideal for extremely wet or cold climates
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure optimal performance, ensure you have the correct size and width for your specific foot shape, as the Ghost 18 is designed for a secure, adaptive hold.
Care Instructions:
- Cleaning: Remove loose dirt with a soft brush. Wipe the engineered mesh with a damp cloth and mild soap; never submerge the shoes in water.
- Drying: Air dry at room temperature away from direct heat sources like radiators, which can degrade the cushioning foam.
- Sockliners: Periodically remove the OrthoLite sockliners to air them out, preventing odor buildup.
- Rotation: If running daily, consider rotating with another pair to allow the foam to fully recover its elasticity between uses.
