Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure boots are laced snugly but not overly tight. Start from the bottom and work your way up, pulling laces evenly to secure your foot without restricting circulation.
- Break-in: New boots may feel stiff initially. Wear them for short periods during training sessions to gradually break them in and mold them to your feet, preventing discomfort during matches.
Compatibility
- Surfaces: These boots feature an FG/MG soleplate, making them suitable for:
- Firm Ground (FG): Natural grass pitches that are dry or slightly damp.
- Artificial Grass (MG): Modern artificial turf surfaces.
- Not Recommended For: Soft ground (SG) or indoor (IC/IN) surfaces.
Care
To maximize the lifespan and performance of your Nike Phantom GX 2 Academy boots:
- Cleaning After Use: After every session, use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) to remove loose dirt and grass from the soleplate and upper. Wipe the upper with a damp cloth.
- Drying: Never dry your boots with direct heat (e.g., radiator, hairdryer), as this can damage materials and cause cracking. Instead, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and allow them to air dry at room temperature.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place, ideally in a boot bag or box, away from direct sunlight.
- Odor Control: If odors develop, use a boot deodorizer spray or cedar inserts to keep them fresh.
