Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Upon receiving your Nike Mercurial Vapor 15 Academy MG Low boots, the primary 'setup' involves lacing them correctly for a secure and comfortable fit.
- Unlace: Loosen the laces completely to open the boot.
- Insert Foot: Slide your foot into the boot, ensuring your heel is comfortably seated at the back.
- Tighten Evenly: Begin tightening the laces from the bottom (closest to the toes) upwards, pulling each cross-section evenly. Avoid over-tightening any single section.
- Secure Knot: Tie a secure knot, double-knotting if preferred, to prevent laces from coming undone during play. Ensure the knot isn't pressing uncomfortably on the top of your foot.
Compatibility
These boots feature a Multi-Ground (MG) outsole, making them highly compatible with two primary playing surfaces:
- Natural Grass (Firm Ground - FG): Suitable for dry, natural grass pitches.
- Artificial Turf (AG): Designed for modern artificial grass pitches.
They are not recommended for extremely soft, muddy natural grass (SG - soft ground) or indoor surfaces (IC - indoor court) as the stud pattern is not optimized for these conditions.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your boots:
- After Every Use: Knock off any loose mud or debris from the outsole. Use a soft brush (like a toothbrush) to gently clean stubborn dirt from studs and grooves.
- Wipe Down: Wipe the upper material with a damp cloth to remove surface dirt. For synthetic materials, a mild soap solution can be used if needed, then wipe clean with a fresh damp cloth.
- Drying: Allow boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Never use direct heat (e.g., radiators, hair dryers) as this can damage synthetic materials and adhesives.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Consider stuffing them with newspaper to help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash your football boots, as this can severely damage them.
