Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
Upon first wearing your new Nike Phantom GX 2 Academy boots, allow for a brief 'break-in' period. Wear them for a few shorter sessions before a full match to let the materials mold to your foot shape for optimal comfort and performance. This helps prevent discomfort and blisters.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically designed for:
- Firm Ground (FG): Natural grass pitches that are firm and relatively dry.
- Multi-Ground (MG): Both firm natural grass and newer generations of artificial grass (3G and 4G pitches). The stud configuration provides a balance of grip and pressure distribution for these surfaces.
Avoid using on: Soft Ground (SG) or Indoor (IC) surfaces, as the soleplate is not designed for these conditions and could lead to reduced performance or damage to the boots/surface.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care extends the lifespan of your boots and maintains their performance:
- Clean After Each Use: Remove loose dirt and mud using a soft brush or cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Rinse (If Necessary): If extremely muddy, a light rinse under cold water is acceptable, but ensure not to saturate the boots entirely.
- Air Dry: Always air dry your boots at room temperature. Do not use direct heat sources like radiators, hairdryers, or direct sunlight, as this can damage the materials and adhesives.
- Remove Insoles: Take out the insoles to allow both the boots and insoles to dry thoroughly, preventing odor and mildew.
- Store Properly: Store your boots in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures. Using boot trees or stuffing them with newspaper can help maintain their shape.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Never machine wash your football boots, as this can severely damage them.
