Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting your Alan Symonds Velvet Chenille Eyelet Curtains ready and maintaining their luxurious look is straightforward.
Setup Instructions
- Unpack: Carefully remove the curtains from their packaging.
- Prepare Rod: Ensure your curtain rod is securely mounted above your window. The eyelet header is designed to fit most standard curtain rods. Measure your rod's diameter to confirm compatibility.
- Hang Curtains: Thread the eyelets of the curtain onto the curtain rod, alternating the direction of the curtain folds to create an even, pleated look. Ensure the leading edge of each curtain is facing the center.
- Adjust Draping: Once hung, adjust the folds evenly across the rod to achieve your desired aesthetic and ensure they hang smoothly.
Compatibility
- Curtain Rods: These curtains are designed with a standard eyelet header, making them compatible with most common curtain rods. It is recommended to use a rod that is slightly wider than your window frame to allow the curtains to stack back neatly when open.
- Interior Decor: The plain yellow colour is versatile, complementing a wide array of interior styles from modern minimalist to classic elegance.
Care Instructions
To preserve the quality and appearance of your velvet chenille curtains, follow these care guidelines:
- Material: 100% Polyester.
- Washing: Machine washable. Use a gentle cycle with cold or lukewarm water. Wash with similar colours.
- Detergent: Use a mild detergent. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the fabric.
- Drying: Line dry only. Do not tumble dry, as high heat can damage the velvet chenille fibers and affect the drape. Hang them over a line or a suitable drying rack, ensuring they are evenly spread to prevent creasing.
- Ironing: If necessary, iron on a very low heat setting on the reverse side of the fabric, or use a steamer from a distance to gently remove wrinkles. Avoid direct, high heat on the velvet surface.
- Storage: When not in use, fold neatly and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
