Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Putting on the Spikes: Loosen the Xcross strap completely. Slide your foot into the shoe, ensuring your heel is firmly seated.
- Securing the Xcross Strap: Pull the Xcross strap across the top of your foot and secure it. Adjust the tension until your foot feels comfortably locked in place, without being overly tight or restrictive.
- Spike Check: Before competition or intense training, always check that the 6 spikes are securely tightened. A spike wrench (often included or sold separately) can be used for this.
Compatibility
The Nike Air Zoom LJ Elite spikes are specifically designed and optimized for long jump events. They are intended for use on standard track surfaces. While they may technically function on other surfaces, their specialized design for long jump mechanics means they might not offer optimal performance or support for different track & field disciplines.
Care
- Cleaning: After use, especially on dirty or wet tracks, gently brush off any loose dirt or debris. Use a damp cloth to wipe down the upper and sole. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Allow the spikes to air dry completely at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, as this can damage materials.
- Storage: Store your spikes in a cool, dry place. Using a spike bag can protect them from dust and prevent spikes from damaging other gear.
- Spike Maintenance: Regularly inspect the spikes for wear. Worn or damaged spikes can reduce traction. Replace individual spikes as needed with compatible replacements.
- Strap Longevity: Periodically inspect the Xcross strap for any signs of wear or fraying. Proper care and avoiding excessive tension will prolong its life.
