Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Setup
- Read Instructions Thoroughly: Before opening any components, read the entire instruction leaflet provided in the Schwarzkopf Live Urban Metallics Green (U75) kit.
- Perform a Patch Test: Absolutely essential. Apply a small amount of the mixed dye to a discreet area of skin (e.g., behind the ear or inner elbow) 48 hours before full application. Do not proceed if any reaction occurs.
- Conduct a Strand Test: Apply the dye to a small, hidden strand of hair to check the exact color result and determine the optimal development time for your hair.
- Gather Supplies: Ensure you have an old towel to protect your clothes and surfaces, petroleum jelly to protect your hairline, and a timer ready.
Compatibility
- Hair Type: This dye is generally suitable for most hair types. However, porous or previously damaged hair may absorb color differently, leading to varied results.
- Existing Hair Color: For the most vibrant, true-to-shade metallic green, this dye works best on pre-lightened or light blonde hair. On darker hair (e.g., brown, black), the result may be a darker, less vibrant green tint unless hair is bleached beforehand.
- Previous Chemical Treatments: If your hair has recently been permed, relaxed, or straightened, wait at least two weeks before applying this dye to prevent excessive damage or unpredictable color results.
Care
To prolong the vibrancy and integrity of your new metallic green hair, follow these care tips:
- Use Color-Safe Products: Always use shampoos and conditioners specifically formulated for color-treated hair. These products help to lock in color and prevent premature fading.
- Wash Less Frequently: Washing your hair less often can significantly extend the life of your color. Consider using dry shampoo between washes.
- Use Cool Water: Rinse your hair with cool or lukewarm water. Hot water can open the hair cuticle, allowing color molecules to escape more easily.
- Limit Heat Styling: Excessive heat from styling tools (flat irons, curling irons, blow dryers) can cause color to fade and damage hair. Use heat protectants and air dry when possible.
- Protect from Sun: UV rays can cause hair color to fade. Wear a hat or use UV-protective hair products when exposed to prolonged sunlight.
- Deep Conditioning: Incorporate a deep conditioning treatment or hair mask once a week to keep your hair hydrated and healthy, especially after chemical processing.
- Avoid Chlorine and Saltwater: These can strip color and alter the shade. If swimming, wet your hair with clean water and apply a leave-in conditioner before entering the water, then rinse immediately afterward.
