FAQs
Are the GEL-1130 trainers true to size?
Yes, they generally follow standard sizing; however, since they feature a structured design, some users prefer a half-size up if they have wider feet.
Can these be used for gym workouts?
While they provide great stability, they are categorized as lifestyle trainers and are best suited for walking and daily wear rather than heavy weightlifting or high-impact training.
How do I clean the leather parts?
Use a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water, or a dedicated leather cleaner, then wipe dry with a clean towel.
Is the GEL technology noticeable?
Yes, the GEL heel unit provides a distinct 'bouncy' sensation that reduces heel strike impact when walking.
Are these shoes water-resistant?
The leather construction offers moderate protection, but they are not fully waterproof. It is recommended to use a leather protector spray for increased resistance.
Troubleshooting
Creasing on the leather upper
Use shoe trees when not wearing the trainers to help maintain their shape and minimize natural creasing.
Squeaking sound while walking
This is often caused by moisture under the insole; remove the insole, let it air dry completely, and replace it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Proven stability technology for walking comfort
- Stylish 2000s-era aesthetic
- Durable leather construction
- Lightweight and suitable for all-day wear
Cons
- Not intended for professional long-distance running
- Material may require a brief break-in period
- Limited to casual lifestyle use
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To maintain the longevity of your GEL-1130 trainers, avoid machine washing or drying, which can damage the leather and internal cushioning structure. Instead, wipe away surface dirt with a soft, damp cloth and use a leather-safe cleaner for deep stains. Always air dry your shoes away from direct heat sources like radiators. Since these are leather-based, consider applying a water-repellent spray specifically for leather to protect them from light rain and dirt.
