Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Using your Osprey Origin Wetsuit effectively starts with proper donning and ensuring a good fit.
- Putting On: Ensure your skin is dry or slightly damp. Start by pulling your legs through the suit, making sure the Supratex knee pads align correctly with your knees. Work the suit up over your hips, then pull your arms through the sleeves. Finally, secure the YKK back zip, often with the help of the provided cord. The stretch collar will make passing your head through easier.
- Fit: The wetsuit should feel snug, like a second skin, but not uncomfortably tight or restrictive to your breathing or movement. A small amount of water entering is normal, as it gets warmed by your body. However, excessive flushing of water indicates the suit might be too loose.
Compatibility
The Osprey Origin Wetsuit is highly compatible with a range of water activities in temperate conditions, thanks to its balanced design focusing on flexibility and warmth:
- Surfing
- Bodyboarding
- Kayaking
- Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP)
- Snorkelling
Care
Proper care is essential to extend the life and maintain the performance of your wetsuit:
- Rinsing: After every use, thoroughly rinse your wetsuit with fresh, cool water. Do not use hot water, as it can degrade the neoprene.
- Cleaning: For a deeper clean, use a wetsuit-specific shampoo. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners.
- Drying: Hang your wetsuit inside out on a wide, padded hanger in the shade, away from direct sunlight. Sunlight can degrade neoprene over time. Once the inside is dry, flip it right side out to dry the exterior.
- Storage: Store your wetsuit flat or folded gently to avoid sharp creases that can damage the neoprene. Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
- Avoid: Never machine wash, tumble dry, or iron your wetsuit. These actions can cause irreparable damage.
