Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup (Break-in)
As these boots feature a full grain leather upper, a break-in period is recommended for optimal comfort and fit.
- Wear indoors: Begin by wearing the boots around the house for short periods (30-60 minutes) to allow the leather to start molding to your foot shape.
- Short training sessions: Gradually increase wear time during light training sessions on a firm pitch.
- Thick socks: Wearing slightly thicker football socks during break-in can help prevent blisters and expedite the molding process.
Compatibility
- Pitch Type: These boots are specifically designed for Firm Ground (FG) natural grass pitches. The moulded studs are optimized for traction and durability on this surface.
- Avoid other surfaces: Using FG boots on artificial turf (AG), soft ground (SG), or indoor surfaces is not recommended. It can lead to excessive stud pressure, reduced grip, premature wear of the soleplate, or even injury.
Care Instructions
Proper care is crucial to maintain the condition and longevity of your leather Copa Mundial boots:
- Clean After Each Use: After every match or training session, wipe off mud and dirt using a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes.
- Air Dry: Remove excess moisture with a towel and then allow the boots to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or artificial heat sources (like radiators or hair dryers). Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Leather Conditioning: Periodically apply a leather conditioner or cream designed for athletic footwear. This will keep the leather supple, prevent it from drying out, cracking, and prolong its life.
- Store Properly: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. Using a boot bag can protect them from dust and scratches.
