Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Lacing: Ensure boots are laced securely but comfortably. The traditional centre lacing allows for a personalized fit.
- Break-in: As full-grain leather boots, a short break-in period is recommended. Wear them for short sessions initially to allow the leather to mold to your feet, preventing discomfort during longer play.
Surface Compatibility
These boots are designed with a moulded firm ground (FG) soleplate, making them ideal for:
- Firm Ground: Natural grass pitches that are dry or slightly damp.
- Artificial Grass (AG): Modern synthetic turf fields.
- Turf: Older, shorter pile artificial surfaces (though FG studs can be aggressive, use with care).
*Avoid using on very soft, muddy, or wet natural grass pitches where soft ground (SG) studs would be more appropriate.*
Product Care
Proper care extends the life and performance of your leather football boots:
- Cleaning After Use: Immediately after playing, wipe off dirt and mud using a damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a soft brush.
- Leather Conditioning: Periodically apply a quality leather conditioner or cream to keep the leather soft and prevent cracking. Follow the product instructions.
- Drying: Allow boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as these can dry out and crack the leather.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, ideally with boot trees or crumpled newspaper inside to help maintain their shape and absorb moisture.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Never machine wash or tumble dry your football boots.
