FAQs
Are these shoes waterproof?
The standard Olympus 7 is designed for breathability. For stream crossings or wet conditions, ensure you are using quick-drying socks.
What does 'zero-drop' mean?
Zero-drop means the heel and forefoot are the same distance from the ground, promoting a more natural stride.
How should I clean the outsoles?
Use a stiff-bristled brush to knock off caked-on mud and rinse with water; avoid soaking the upper for extended periods.
Can I replace the insoles with orthotics?
Yes, the stock insoles are removable and can be swapped for custom orthotics if required for your specific arch support needs.
How long do these shoes typically last?
Depending on terrain and usage intensity, most hikers find the cushioning remains effective for 300 to 500 miles of trail use.
Troubleshooting
Feeling calf soreness after initial use
This is common when adapting to a zero-drop platform; rotate the shoes with your previous pair and limit use to short hikes until adjusted.
Debris entering the shoe
Consider wearing compatible gaiters to seal the collar area against rocks and sand.

- Limited to adult sizing options
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Altra Olympus 7 hiking shoes, remove excess mud and dirt after every hike using a soft brush. If the interior becomes soiled, hand wash them in cool water with mild soap and air dry them away from direct heat sources, as extreme heat can degrade the cushioning materials. Since these shoes feature a unique foot-shaped fit, ensure you select your correct size based on your standard hiking socks. If you are new to the Altra brand, it is recommended to gradually increase the mileage in these shoes to allow your calves and Achilles tendons to adapt to the neutral, zero-drop architecture.
