The North Face Altamesa 500 v2 GTX is an ideal choice for dedicated male trail runners who require reliable protection and traction in adverse weather conditions. Its key benefit is the integrated GORE-TEX waterproof membrane, which effectively keeps feet dry during rain-soaked runs or muddy forest treks. While the shoe provides excellent durability and grip, runners should note that the rugged construction designed for protection may feel slightly stiffer compared to lightweight road racing trainers.

Yes, they feature a GORE-TEX membrane specifically designed to seal out water from rain and puddles.
While they can be used on pavement, the outsole is designed for off-road traction and will wear down faster if used consistently on hard surfaces.
Wipe them down with a damp cloth and a soft brush. Air dry naturally away from direct heat.
The fit remains standard, but if you prefer wearing thick winter socks, consider if you need extra room in the toe box.
Yes, it is designed to be breathable, though it will not feel as ventilated as a non-waterproof mesh trail shoe.
While waterproof, the GORE-TEX membrane traps sweat. Use moisture-wicking technical socks to improve moisture management.
Ensure the outsoles are free of caked-on mud, as large mud clogs in the tread can reduce traction on slippery surfaces.
Ensure the laces are tensioned correctly across the midfoot to prevent sliding, which can cause excessive strain during long-distance efforts.
To ensure the longevity of your footwear, break them in on shorter, flatter trails before committing to long, high-intensity mountain runs. For care, avoid machine washing or drying, as this can degrade the GORE-TEX membrane and the shoe's adhesives. After a muddy run, remove loose dirt using a soft-bristle brush and water. If the interior gets wet, remove the insoles and air dry the shoes in a room with good circulation—never place them directly against a radiator or heat source, as excessive heat can warp the materials.
