Setup: Step-by-Step Application
- Prepare the Surface: Ensure the surface is thoroughly clean, dry, and smooth. Remove any dust, dirt, or grease. For painted surfaces, ensure the paint is fully cured.
- Measure and Cut: Measure the area you wish to cover. Cut the film to size, adding an extra 1-2 cm on each side for trimming. The backing paper often has a grid to help with straight cuts.
- Initial Placement: Peel back only a small portion (about 5-10 cm) of the backing paper from one edge. Align the exposed adhesive edge of the film carefully with the starting edge of your surface.
- Apply and Smooth: Slowly pull away the backing paper with one hand while simultaneously smoothing the film onto the surface with a squeegee or a soft, dry cloth from the center outwards. This pushes out air bubbles as you go.
- Address Bubbles: If bubbles appear, gently lift the film back to the bubble and re-smooth. For stubborn small bubbles, you can carefully prick them with a fine pin and then press the air out.
- Trim Excess: Once the entire film is applied, use a sharp utility knife and a ruler or straight edge to carefully trim any excess film for a neat, flush finish.
Compatibility
This self-adhesive film is designed for dry, flat, and smooth surfaces. Ideal surfaces include:
- Laminated furniture
- Smooth painted wood or metal
- Glass or acrylic panels
- Melamine surfaces
Avoid applying to rough, porous, textured, or damp surfaces as adhesion will be compromised and the texture may show through.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the film clean with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals as these can damage the film's surface or finish.
- Protection: While durable, the film is not immune to scratches or extreme heat. Use coasters for hot items and cutting boards for food preparation to extend its lifespan.
