Setup, Compatibility & Care
Preparation
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from loose paint, dirt, grease, or rust. For bare wood, lightly sand and wipe away dust. For bare metal, ensure it's rust-free and consider a suitable metal primer if needed. Previously painted surfaces should be sound; lightly sand gloss finishes to create a 'key' for adhesion.
Application
- Stir the paint thoroughly before and during use to ensure consistent color and finish.
- Apply with a good quality brush, working in the direction of the grain for wood, or evenly across metal surfaces.
- Aim for an even, consistent layer, avoiding over-brushing which can lead to streaks.
- Apply two coats for the richest, deepest color and maximum protection.
- Allow a full 16 hours drying time before applying the second coat.
Compatibility
- Suitable for exterior metal surfaces.
- Suitable for exterior wood surfaces.
- Do not apply in direct sunlight, extreme hot or cold temperatures, or when rain is expected within the drying period.
Care & Maintenance
- Clean brushes immediately after use with a suitable solvent-based brush cleaner (e.g., white spirit). Rinse thoroughly.
- Wipe up any spills immediately with a damp cloth or solvent cleaner.
- For painted surfaces, clean gently with a mild detergent and water when dirty. Avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners.
- Store the paint tin in a cool, dry place, away from frost and direct sunlight. Ensure the lid is tightly sealed to prevent drying.
