Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper preparation and application are key to maximizing the lifespan and appearance of your Dulux Weathershield Exterior Gloss.
Setup & Application
- Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from loose material, dirt, or grease. For previously painted surfaces, sand them down to a smooth finish. Bare wood or metal surfaces should be primed with an appropriate exterior wood or metal primer from the Weathershield range.
- Stirring: Thoroughly stir the paint before and periodically during use to ensure consistent colour and finish.
- Application: Apply with a good quality synthetic brush or roller. For best results, apply 2 coats. Allow adequate drying time between coats (refer to product label for specific times).
- Coverage: Approximately 16 square meters per litre, depending on surface texture and porosity. A 750ml tin should cover roughly 12 square meters per coat.
Compatibility
- Surfaces: Primarily designed for exterior wood and metal surfaces.
- Specific Use: Recommended for front doors and windows.
- Primers: Compatible with Dulux Weathershield Exterior Primers for wood and metal.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning Tools: Clean brushes and rollers immediately after use with a suitable brush cleaner or white spirit.
- Painted Surfaces: To maintain the gloss finish and durability, periodically clean painted surfaces with a mild detergent and water, rinsing thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the paint in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and frost. Ensure the lid is tightly sealed to prevent the paint from drying out.
