Farrow & Ball Dead Flat Paint in Oxford Stone is an ideal choice for homeowners and interior designers seeking a sophisticated, earthy aesthetic for high-traffic areas like living rooms and hallways. This premium paint offers a remarkably flat, matte finish that is surprisingly durable and scuff-resistant, though its unique alkyd resin composition requires specific preparation compared to standard water-based emulsions.

No, Dead Flat is specifically engineered for interior use on walls, woodwork, and metal.
While durable, it is not designed for high-humidity environments like bathrooms; please check Farrow & Ball's specific range for moisture-resistant finishes.
Yes, for the best and most durable results, we recommend using the appropriate Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat for your surface.
Because of the alkyd resin, check the tin instructions; usually, these require specific cleaning solvents rather than just soap and water.
Oxford Stone is a warm neutral and pairs beautifully with Joa’s White and Dimity for a cohesive, pared-down scheme.
Ensure you are using a high-quality synthetic brush and avoid overworking the paint as it begins to dry.
Apply a secondary coat after allowing the first to dry completely; ensure the surface was properly primed first.
Before starting, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from loose paint or dust. For optimal adhesion, especially on woodwork or metal, a high-quality primer is recommended. The paint should be stirred thoroughly before application. Use a high-quality synthetic brush or a medium-nap roller for best results. When cleaning, use a damp, lint-free cloth and avoid abrasive scrubbers that might alter the flat finish. Keep the container tightly sealed in a cool, dry place when not in use to maintain the integrity of the alkyd resin.
