Farrow & Ball Bible Black is an intense, purple-based black paint designed for homeowners and designers seeking to add profound depth and character to interior or exterior surfaces. Inspired by the imagery of a starless night, this inky violet shade provides a sophisticated, modern aesthetic that works particularly well on high-impact areas like front doors. Please note that as this is part of the Farrow & Ball Archive collection, it is made-to-order and therefore non-returnable, requiring careful consideration before purchase.

Yes, it is highly recommended for front doors, especially when finished in Full Gloss.
While both are deep, dark shades, Paean Black is considered slightly stronger, whereas Bible Black features a distinct violet undertone.
You can order paint swatches exclusively through the Farrow & Ball website to test the color in your home lighting.
Yes, when applied with the appropriate Farrow & Ball finish (like Estate Eggshell or Full Gloss), it provides a durable surface.
Ensure you are using the correct primer shade as recommended by Farrow & Ball for deep colors.
Use high-quality brushes or rollers, apply thin even coats, and avoid overworking the paint as it begins to tack up.
Deep blacks often highlight wall texture; ensure the wall is perfectly smooth and primed before applying the final coat.
Before applying, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and properly primed with the recommended Farrow & Ball primer. Given the depth of Bible Black, ensure your wall preparation is thorough, as dark colors can highlight dings or uneven texture. Because it is part of the Archive collection, we highly recommend utilizing the online paint swatches to test the color in your specific environment before committing to a larger quantity. For cleaning, use a soft, damp cloth with mild soapy water; avoid harsh abrasive cleaners that may degrade the finish.
