Full details

The Korda Kable Leadcore Leader Heli Safe is designed for carp anglers who utilize helicopter or chod rig setups and require a reliable, fish-safe, and anti-tangle solution. These 50cm pre-tied leaders use Tight Weave Kable Leadcore to pin your setup to the lakebed and protect fish during the fight, making them an excellent choice for long-range casting. While these leaders offer exceptional safety features, they require careful adjustment of the Mini Heli-Safe spring settings depending on the specific snag conditions of your swim.

FAQs

Can I use this leader with chod rigs?

Yes, the Heli-Safe system is fully compatible with both conventional helicopter rigs and chod rigs.

Are the No-Trace beads reusable?

Yes, but it is recommended to keep a few spare beads on hand in case they are lost during the lead ejection process.

How do I swap the springs?

The Mini Heli-Safe housing can be opened to allow for the swapping of the internal spring mechanism; refer to the provided instructions for spring tensioning.

Is the leadcore lead-free?

The Kable Leadcore contains a lead center to ensure it sinks rapidly and stays pinned to the bottom.

Does this work with size 11 swivels from other brands?

While designed for Korda size 11 QC swivels, it is generally compatible with most standard size 11 swivels, but performance is optimized with the Korda range.

Can I extend the length of the leader?

The product comes as a fixed 50cm pre-tied leader; it cannot be extended manually without re-splicing, which is not recommended for pre-tied versions.

Troubleshooting

The lead is ejecting too easily

Ensure you are using the correct spring setting for your specific fishing situation or consider installing the collar if you prefer the lead to stay fixed.

Rig is tangling during cast

Check that the top bead is positioned correctly and ensure your hook link is not too long for the helicopter configuration.

Difficulty attaching to main line

Ensure your main line loop is small enough to pass through the spliced loop cleanly, or use a leader-to-main-line connector.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent anti-tangle performance
Provides high levels of fish safety
Ready to use straight out of the package
Superior abrasion resistance for lakebed protection
Easy and rapid rig changing capabilities

Cons

Requires manual adjustment of springs for different water types
Limited to 50cm length pre-tied configurations
Small components require careful handling during setup

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To begin, attach the leader to your main line using the pre-spliced loop via a simple loop-to-loop connection. Use the size 11 QC Ring Swivel to attach your chosen rig, securing it with the included sleeve. When setting up for different terrains, check the Mini Heli-Safe spring. Use the standard spring for waters where you need the lead to drop easily, or swap it for the red spring in clear, snag-free waters. If you prefer to keep the lead attached at all times, install the optional collar. Periodically inspect the leadcore for fraying or damage after catching a fish or reeling in from rocky areas, and replace the No-Trace beads if they show signs of wear.
