Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Breaking In: While designed for immediate comfort, performance boots often benefit from a short break-in period. Wear them for light training sessions or short walks to allow the materials to conform to your foot shape.
- Lacing: Experiment with lacing tightness to find the most secure and comfortable fit. The Dynamic Fit collar provides an initial snugness, and lacing can be adjusted for personalized support.
Compatibility
- Surfaces: These are MultiGround (MG) boots, making them compatible with both natural grass (firm ground conditions) and artificial grass surfaces. Avoid using them on extremely hard ground, concrete, or indoor courts as this can damage the studs and reduce grip.
- Foot Type: The NIKESKIN upper is designed to adapt to various foot shapes, but the snug fit of Mercurial series is typically favored by players looking for a streamlined, close-to-foot feel.
Care
Maintaining your boots properly will extend their lifespan and performance:
- Cleaning after Use: After every game or training session, wipe off any mud or dirt using a damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a soft brush and mild soap.
- Drying: Allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as this can cause the materials to crack or stiffen.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. Using boot trees or stuffing them with newspaper can help maintain their shape and absorb moisture.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash or tumble dry your football boots, as this can damage the materials and adhesives.
- Inspect Regularly: Periodically check for any signs of wear, especially on the studs and seams, to address minor issues before they worsen.
