FAQs
Are these shoes waterproof?

Can I use these for road running?
While technically possible, the aggressive 5mm lugs are designed for trails and will wear down rapidly if used extensively on pavement.
How do I determine my size?
These shoes follow standard UK sizing. We recommend choosing your usual athletic shoe size.
Are the insoles removable?
Yes, the internal sockliner is removable, allowing you to insert custom orthotics if required.
What is the primary terrain for this shoe?
The Torrent 4 is best suited for technical, uneven trails, dirt paths, and mountain hiking.
Troubleshooting
Feeling instability on uneven ground
Ensure the laces are tightened properly to engage the Active Foot Frame; if the issue persists, check if the tread has become overly worn.
Discomfort or hotspots during long hikes
Check the fit of your socks and ensure they are moisture-wicking; consider re-lacing to adjust pressure points across the midfoot.

- Stable Active Foot Frame helps prevent ankle rolling

- Specific lug design may wear down quickly on extremely hard-packed trails
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your HOKA Torrent 4 hiking shoes, follow these best practices:
- Break-in Period: While they are comfortable out of the box, perform a few shorter hikes before embarking on long-distance treks to allow the cushioning to mold to your foot shape.
- Cleaning: After muddy hikes, remove excess dirt with a soft brush. If necessary, use cool water and a mild soap to wipe down the exterior; avoid machine washing or drying, as high heat can damage the midsole compound.
- Drying: Air dry the shoes in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight or artificial heat sources, which can warp the materials.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Keep out of direct UV light when not in use to prevent the rubber and fabric from degrading.
