Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting the most out of your Birkenstock Milano sandals involves proper setup, understanding their compatibility with your lifestyle, and consistent care.
Setup & First Use
- Adjust Buckles: Before your first wear, adjust the three buckles (two over the forefoot, one around the ankle) to achieve a comfortable, snug fit. Your foot should feel secure without being constricted, with a small gap around the edges.
- Break-in Period: The natural cork footbed will mold to the unique shape of your foot over time. It's recommended to wear your new sandals for short periods initially, gradually increasing wear time, to allow for this customization and prevent initial discomfort.
Compatibility
The Birkenstock Milano's classic black color and utilitarian design make them highly versatile. They pair well with a wide range of casual attire, including shorts, jeans, casual skirts, and dresses. Their supportive structure makes them suitable for anyone seeking reliable comfort and stability for everyday wear.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning the Upper: The Birko-Flor upper can be cleaned easily with a damp cloth and mild soap. Wipe gently to remove dirt or stains, then air dry away from direct sunlight.
- Caring for the Cork Footbed: To prolong the life of the cork, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat, which can dry out and crack the cork. If the cork sealant appears worn, consider applying a specialized cork sealer to protect it.
- Cleaning the Sole: The EVA sole can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
- Avoid Excessive Water: Birkenstock sandals are not designed to be submerged in water. Avoid wearing them in heavy rain, at the beach (beyond dry sand), or in wet conditions to protect the cork and footbed materials.
