Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Unlace the boots sufficiently to comfortably slide your foot in. Ensure your heel is seated firmly against the heel counter.
- Adjust Fit: Begin lacing from the bottom, pulling firmly but not too tightly to secure the midfoot. Work your way up, ensuring an even tension across the laces.
- Knot: Tie a secure knot, double-knotting if desired, to prevent laces from coming undone during play. The low-cut Flyknit collar should feel snug but not restrictive.
Compatibility
These Nike Phantom GX II Elite FG boots are specifically designed for Firm Ground (FG) surfaces. This includes natural grass pitches that are dry or slightly damp. They are not recommended for use on:
- Artificial Grass (AG) pitches.
- Soft Ground (SG) pitches (which require longer, often metal, studs).
- Indoor courts or hard ground surfaces.
Using them on incompatible surfaces can lead to suboptimal performance, increased risk of injury, and premature wear to the boots.
Care
Proper care extends the life and maintains the performance of your football boots:
- Clean After Use: After each use, remove loose dirt and mud by gently tapping the boots together. Use a soft brush (like a toothbrush) and warm water to clean the upper, especially the Gripknit surface and Strike Zone texturing, to maintain optimal ball control.
- Soleplate Care: Clean the studs and soleplate thoroughly to remove trapped mud or debris, which can affect traction.
- Drying: Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain shape.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving them in a kit bag for extended periods, as this can trap moisture and promote odor or material degradation.
