The Altra Olympus 7 is designed for long-distance trail runners and backpackers who prioritize comfort and natural foot alignment during extended efforts on challenging terrain. Featuring a zero-drop platform and a signature wide toe box, it provides a stable and plush ride that helps reduce joint impact over many hours; however, users new to zero-drop footwear may require a transitional period to adjust their natural stride.

Zero-drop refers to a design where the heel and forefoot are at the exact same distance from the ground, encouraging a more natural, balanced stride.
While optimized for trails, the Olympus 7 can be used on roads; however, the aggressive lugs of the Vibram outsole may wear down faster on asphalt.
Generally, trail shoes should be replaced every 300 to 500 miles, depending on the intensity of the terrain and the weight carried.
Yes, Altra's FootShape design is explicitly wider in the forefoot to allow toes to splay naturally rather than being constricted.
The Olympus 7 features an engineered mesh upper designed for breathability. They are not waterproof and will drain well if submerged.
Yes, the provided insoles are removable, allowing space for most low-profile custom orthotic inserts.
Reduce daily mileage to allow your calves and Achilles tendons to adapt to the zero-drop platform.
Consider pairing the trainers with a compatible trail gaiter if you frequently encounter loose scree or thick brush.
Clean the lugs thoroughly with a stiff brush to remove compacted mud or small rocks that prevent the rubber from contacting the ground.
To ensure the best experience with the Olympus 7, allow your feet time to adjust to the zero-drop platform, especially if you are transitioning from shoes with a higher heel-to-toe drop. Gradually increase your mileage over two to three weeks. For care, avoid machine washing or drying, as high heat can damage the midsole foam and adhesives. Instead, remove the insoles and brush off loose mud or dirt after each trail session. If the upper becomes heavily soiled, hand wash with a mild soap and cold water, then air dry away from direct heat sources to maintain the integrity of the engineered mesh.
