FAQs
What is the total length of the scissors?
The Korum Macro Multi-Scissors measure 88mm, or approximately 3.5 inches.
Can these cut metal wire?
These scissors are designed for fishing lines like braid and mono; using them on metal wire may damage the blades.
What is the braid stripper used for?
It is used to remove the outer plastic coating from coated hooklink material, exposing the inner braid for tying.
Do the scissors lock in place?
The folding mechanism is designed for easy operation and storage; always keep fingers away from the pivot when folding.
How should I clean the blades after use?
Wipe them with a clean, dry cloth. If used in saltwater, rinse with fresh water and dry immediately to prevent corrosion.
Troubleshooting
Scissors are stiff when opening
Clear any debris or grit from the pivot hinge and apply a tiny drop of light machine oil if necessary.
Blades are not cutting cleanly
Check the blades for buildup of glue or line residue and clean them with a damp cloth or fine alcohol wipe.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Extremely compact and portable 88mm design
- Multi-functional utility includes braid stripping and knot pulling
- Sharp blades provide clean, fray-free cuts
- Space-saving folding mechanism for safe storage
Cons
- Small handle size may be difficult for large hands
- Folding hinge requires occasional cleaning to stay smooth
- Not intended for heavy-duty wire cutting
Setup, Compatibility & Care
These scissors require no complex setup; simply unfold the blades to begin cutting or use the internal tools. To maintain performance, ensure the blades are wiped dry after use in wet weather to prevent corrosion. Periodically check the pivot point for debris or sand buildup that could hinder the folding action. When not in use, keep the tool in its folded position to protect both the blades and your fingers. Compatible with all standard monofilament, fluorocarbon, and coated braid lines typically used in modern specimen angling.
