To ensure the best experience and extend the life of your Birkenstock Gizeh sandals, follow these guidelines.

Setup and First Use

1. Adjust the Strap: Before wearing, adjust the buckle on the Birko-Flor upper. Ensure it's snug enough to hold your foot securely without being too tight or causing pressure points. Your foot should not slide excessively within the sandal.
2. Position Your Foot: When standing, your heel should sit comfortably in the heel cup, and your toes should not touch the front rim of the footbed. There should be a small gap (2-3 mm) both in front of your toes and behind your heel.
3. Break-In Period: Wear your new sandals for short periods (e.g., 30 minutes to an hour) each day for the first few days or weeks. This allows the cork-latex footbed to gradually mold to your foot's shape, maximizing comfort and support.

• Apparel: Pair them with summer dresses, skirts, shorts, jeans, capris, or casual trousers for a relaxed yet stylish look.

Care and Maintenance

Proper care will preserve the comfort and appearance of your sandals.

• Birko-Flor Upper: Wipe the Birko-Flor upper regularly with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap to remove dirt and dust. Avoid harsh cleaning agents.
• Suede Insole: To clean the suede insole, use a soft brush (a suede brush or an old toothbrush works well) to gently brush away dirt and refresh the nap. For tougher spots, a specialized suede cleaner can be used sparingly according to its instructions. Avoid saturating the suede with water.
• Cork Footbed: Protect the cork from drying out or cracking. Birkenstock offers a cork sealer that can be applied periodically to maintain its flexibility and seal. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat.
• Storage: Store your sandals in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Avoid storing them in plastic bags where moisture can accumulate.
• Avoid Excessive Water: Due to the cork-latex footbed and suede insole, these sandals are not waterproof. Avoid wearing them in heavy rain, submerging them in water, or leaving them out in wet conditions. If they do get wet, allow them to air dry slowly away from direct heat sources.
• Outsole: Inspect the EVA outsole periodically for excessive wear. While durable, constant heavy use on rough surfaces may wear it down over time.
