The North Face 1996 Nuptse 700 Jacket is an iconic choice for adults seeking high-performance warmth and classic streetwear aesthetics. Featuring premium 700-fill down insulation wrapped in a durable nylon shell, this jacket offers exceptional heat retention in cold urban or outdoor environments. While it provides incredible warmth-to-weight performance, its boxy, vintage fit may require careful sizing for those who prefer a more tailored, slim silhouette.

The nylon shell provides some protection against light rain, but it is not a technical waterproof rain jacket.
Store it hanging in a breathable garment bag in a cool, dry closet to keep the down from compressing.
The 1996 Nuptse has a retro, boxy fit. Many users prefer their normal size, but you may want to size down if you prefer a slim, modern fit.
While it is warm, it is primarily designed as a lifestyle and casual performance piece. For heavy snow, ensure you have an outer shell layer.
Check for fabric caught in the teeth. Gently move the slider back and forth and ensure the track is clear of debris.
The down may be clumped after storage. Shake the jacket vigorously or tumble dry on low with dryer balls to restore loft.
This is common with down garments. Gently pull the feather back into the jacket from the inside rather than pulling it through the fabric.
Because this is an insulated down jacket, proper care is essential to maintain the "loft" of the feathers. Avoid leaving the jacket compressed in a small bag for long periods, as this can affect the insulation's ability to trap heat. When cleaning, use a specialized down-safe detergent in a front-loading washing machine on a gentle cycle. Always tumble dry on low heat with tennis balls or dryer balls to help fluff the down back to its original state. Store the jacket hanging in a cool, dry place when not in use for the season.
