Full details

The Dulux Heritage Walls and Ceilings Coral Pink Velvet Matt Emulsion is designed for homeowners and interior decorators seeking a sophisticated, luxurious aesthetic for their living spaces. Its primary benefit is the unique clay-infused formula that provides a durable, washable, and incredibly smooth soft-touch finish, though users should note that as a premium matt paint, it may show imperfections on walls that are not perfectly prepared prior to application.

FAQs

Is this paint suitable for kitchens or bathrooms?

While it is a durable, washable matt, it is specifically designed for general walls and ceilings. For high-humidity areas like bathrooms, a dedicated kitchen/bathroom paint is usually recommended.

How many coats should I apply?

We recommend two full coats for the best results, allowing at least 4 hours of drying time between each coat.

Can I use this paint on furniture?

This formula is specifically engineered for wall and ceiling substrates. It may not provide the necessary hardness or adhesion for high-use furniture.

What is the finish like?

It has a 'Velvet Matt' finish, which is a very low-sheen, smooth, and sophisticated look that hides minor wall imperfections well.

Is it low odor?

Yes, thanks to the Low VOC formulation, it has a much milder odor compared to traditional oil-based or high-VOC paints.

What is the best way to clean my brushes?

Since this is a water-based emulsion, you can clean your brushes easily with warm, soapy water immediately after use.

Troubleshooting

Paint showing brush marks

Ensure you are using a high-quality synthetic brush and avoid over-working the paint once it begins to tack up.

Uneven finish or flashing

This is often caused by lack of proper surface preparation. Apply a coat of primer or sealer to create a uniform surface porosity before top-coating.

Paint not covering in one coat

This is a premium, high-pigment paint, but two coats are always recommended for a durable and true-to-colour finish on properly prepared walls.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Exceptionally smooth application due to clay infusion
  • Sophisticated, modern velvet matt finish
  • Washable surface is practical for real-world living
  • Excellent depth of colour from premium pigments
  • Low VOC formula is better for the indoor environment

Cons

  • Matt finishes require well-prepared walls to hide imperfections
  • Higher price point compared to standard trade emulsions
  • May require more care than high-sheen paints when cleaning heavy marks

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Preparation is the most important step for achieving the velvet matt look. Always fill cracks and sand surfaces smooth before starting. If painting over porous or bare plaster, apply a mist coat first.

Compatibility: This paint is compatible with most standard interior walls and ceiling substrates, including properly prepared plaster, lining paper, and existing painted surfaces that are in good condition.

Care Instructions:

  1. Stir the paint thoroughly before use to ensure the clay and pigments are well-distributed.
  2. Apply using steady, long strokes to maximize the self-leveling properties.
  3. Keep the room ventilated while the paint dries to ensure proper curing.
  4. To clean, use only a soft, damp cloth and mild soap; avoid abrasive sponges or harsh chemicals which may damage the matt finish.
