FAQs

What type of playing surface are these boots suitable for?

These adidas Predator League Tongue SG boots are specifically designed for soft ground (SG) pitches, which include wet, muddy, or natural grass surfaces.

How do I clean my adidas Predator League Tongue SG boots?

After use, wipe off mud and dirt with a damp cloth. For stubborn grime, use a soft brush. Allow them to air dry naturally. Avoid machine washing or using direct heat.

Are the studs on these boots removable?

Yes, for larger children's sizes (3 UK and above), the boots feature removable metal-tipped studs and include a key. Smaller sizes (2.5 UK and below) have a fixed configuration of six metal-tipped studs only.

What is the 'HybridFeel' upper made of?

The HybridFeel upper is a tactile and flexible synthetic material, engineered for lightweight comfort and support to enhance your natural game and ball touch.

What are 'Strikescale grip elements' and how do they help?

Strikescale grip elements are refined structures on the upper that increase purchase on the ball, leading to greater precision and the ability to add swerve to your shots and passes.

Can I use these boots on artificial grass or firm ground?

No, these boots are not recommended for artificial grass (AG) or firm ground (FG) surfaces. Using them on incorrect surfaces can damage the studs, reduce traction, and potentially lead to injury.

Troubleshooting

Poor grip or slipping on the pitch.

These boots are designed for soft ground. If you are experiencing slipping, ensure you are playing on an appropriate surface. Also, check the studs for excessive wear or damage. For boots with removable studs, ensure they are securely tightened.

Discomfort or blisters after playing.

New boots often require a 'break-in' period. Wear them for shorter periods initially. Ensure you are wearing appropriate football socks and that the boots are laced correctly, not too tight or too loose. If discomfort persists, double-check that the size is correct.

Ball control or striking precision is not as expected.

Familiarize yourself with the Strikescale elements and the fold-over tongue. Practice drills focusing on ball contact points. Ensure the boots fit snugly, as a loose fit can reduce responsiveness and control.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Enhanced ball control and striking precision due to Strikescale elements and fold-over tongue.
  • Comfortable and supportive HybridFeel upper for extended play.
  • Optimized traction and agility specifically for soft ground pitches.
  • Iconic adidas Predator design endorsed by professional players.
  • Contributes to sustainability with partially recycled materials.
  • Integrated fit for a consistent feel between foot and ball.

Cons

  • Exclusively designed for soft ground surfaces, limiting versatility.
  • Stud configuration differs for smaller sizes (2.5 UK and below), which might affect perceived performance.
  • Requires proper care to maintain performance and extend lifespan.

Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions

Setup

  1. Lacing: Ensure the boots are laced snugly but not too tightly to provide a secure fit without restricting circulation. The regular fit is designed to accommodate various foot shapes.
  2. Fold-Over Tongue: Adjust the fold-over tongue to lie flat over the laces. The integrated strap helps keep it in place, providing a clean surface for ball striking.

Compatibility

These boots are specifically designed for soft ground (SG) pitches. This means they are best suited for wet, muddy, or natural grass surfaces where the long, often metal-tipped, studs can penetrate the ground to provide maximum traction. Do not use these boots on firm ground (FG), artificial grass (AG), or indoor surfaces, as this can damage the studs, cause premature wear, and potentially lead to instability or injury.

Care

  1. Cleaning: After each use, wipe off any mud or dirt with a damp cloth. For tougher grime, a soft brush can be used. Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing.
  2. Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use direct heat sources like radiators or hair dryers, as this can damage the materials.
  3. Stud Maintenance: If your boots include removable studs (typically on larger sizes 3 UK and above), periodically check them for tightness and wear. Use the included stud key to tighten or replace studs as needed. Smaller sizes (2.5 UK and below) have fixed studs that require no maintenance.
  4. Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Using boot trees can help maintain their shape.
