Setup, Compatibility & Care
To maximize the performance and extend the lifespan of your Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite AG Pro boots, adhere to these guidelines.
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure the `lacing closure` is tied securely for a locked-down fit, but avoid overtightening which can cause discomfort. Adjust the laces to achieve a personalized, snug fit around your foot.
- Break-in: Allow for a short break-in period. Wear the boots during lighter training sessions before competitive games to enable them to conform to your foot shape, enhancing comfort and performance.
Compatibility
- Artificial Ground (AG) Only: These boots are *specifically engineered* for artificial grass pitches. The `AG-Pro` soleplate is designed to perform optimally and safely on synthetic turf, providing appropriate grip and pressure distribution.
- Avoid Other Surfaces:
- Natural Grass (FG/SG): Using AG boots on firm ground (FG) or soft ground (SG) can compromise your grip, damage the soleplate, and potentially lead to injury due to incorrect stud penetration and pressure.
- Hard Courts/Street: Absolutely avoid wearing these boots on abrasive surfaces like concrete or asphalt. Doing so will rapidly wear down the studs, diminish performance, and void any product warranty.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care is crucial for maintaining the performance characteristics and extending the durability of your boots.
- Cleaning After Use:
- Immediately after use, remove any loose dirt, grass, or rubber pellets using a soft brush or cloth.
- Wipe down the entire boot with a damp cloth to clean surface grime.
- For stubborn dirt, use a mild soap solution mixed with water and a soft brush or sponge.
- Drying:
- Always allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature.
- DO NOT expose them to direct heat sources such as radiators, tumble dryers, or direct sunlight, as this can severely damage the materials and adhesives.
- Stuffing the boots with newspaper can help absorb internal moisture and maintain their original shape.
- Storage:
- Store your boots in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Using a boot bag or the original box can protect them from dust and physical damage.
- Odor Control: If odors develop, use a shoe deodorizer spray or insert odor-absorbing sachets. Placing baking soda in an old sock inside each boot overnight can also help neutralize smells.
