FAQs

Are these shoes suitable for running?

While inspired by early 2000s running designs, the 740 is primarily built as a lifestyle trainer for daily walking and fashion.

How do I clean the mesh upper?

Gently wipe with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water, then let them air dry completely.

Are these true to size?

The New Balance 740 is designed for a standard adult fit. It is recommended to choose your usual New Balance size.

Can I put these in the washing machine?

No, machine washing can damage the adhesives and synthetic materials. Always hand clean.

What is the difference between the 740 and 740 V2?

The 740 V2 is an updated iteration of the classic 740, maintaining the Y2K aesthetic while incorporating modern manufacturing refinements.

Troubleshooting

Mesh upper accumulating dust or debris

Use a dry, soft-bristled brush to gently whisk away particles from the weave.

Slight creasing in the overlays

Use shoe trees when not in use to help the material maintain its original form.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure your New Balance 740s remain in top condition, follow these care guidelines:

  1. Routine Cleaning: Use a soft-bristled brush to remove surface dust and dirt from the mesh panels.
  2. Stain Removal: Spot clean fabric sections with a mild detergent and a damp cloth; avoid submerging the shoes in water.
  3. Drying: Always air dry at room temperature away from direct heat sources like radiators, which can warp the materials.
  4. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place to prevent yellowing or material degradation over time.
  5. Fit Check: Ensure you are wearing the correct UK size, as the 740 series is designed for a specific adult foot structure.
