Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Prepare the Wall: Ensure your wall surface is clean, dry, smooth, and free of loose paint, dust, or grease. Fill any holes or cracks and sand rough areas. For best results, apply a wallpaper primer or sealer.
- Gather Tools: You will need a wallpaper paste for non-woven materials, a paste brush or roller, a plumb line or level, a smoothing brush or plastic scraper, a utility knife with sharp blades, a tape measure, and a clean sponge or cloth.
- Measure and Cut: Measure your wall height and cut wallpaper strips, adding a few inches at the top and bottom for trimming. *Crucially*, account for the pattern repeat when cutting subsequent strips to ensure the wood slat design aligns perfectly.
- Apply Paste: Apply the recommended non-woven wallpaper paste *directly to the wall* for the width of one strip, ensuring even coverage.
- Hang the First Strip: Align the first strip carefully using your plumb line. Press it onto the pasted wall from top to bottom, smoothing out any air bubbles with your brush or scraper, working from the center outwards.
- Match and Hang Subsequent Strips: Align the next strip to the pattern of the first, pressing it onto the pasted wall. Carefully match the wood slat design along the seam. Repeat for all strips.
- Trim Excess: Once all strips are hung, use your utility knife and a straight edge to carefully trim the excess wallpaper at the ceiling, skirting boards, and around windows or doors.
- Clean Up: Gently wipe off any excess paste from the wallpaper surface or seams with a damp sponge before it dries.
Compatibility
This wallpaper is compatible with most smooth, dry interior wall surfaces. It is not recommended for heavily textured walls unless they are smoothed first, as the 3D effect relies on a relatively flat base. While generally durable, it's advisable to ensure good ventilation if used in high-humidity areas like bathrooms.
Care
To clean, gently wipe the wallpaper with a slightly damp, clean sponge or cloth. Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners or excessive scrubbing, as this may damage the textured surface or print. Promptly address any spills to prevent staining.
