The ASICS GEL-Sonoma 8 GTX is a high-performance trail running shoe designed for adult male runners who frequent rugged terrain in unpredictable weather. The primary benefit of this trainer is its combination of a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane and robust traction, ensuring feet stay dry and secure on mud or loose dirt. One caveat to note is that while the GORE-TEX lining provides excellent weather protection, it may reduce overall breathability compared to non-waterproof models during extremely hot, dry summer runs.

While you can run on the road, the aggressive lugs are designed for trails and will wear down faster on hard asphalt.
The material is designed to be flexible, though it may feel slightly stiffer than non-waterproof versions initially.
Generally, running shoes should be replaced every 300 to 500 miles depending on your gait and the terrain intensity.
ASICS generally fit true to standard athletic sizing, but it is recommended to wear your usual running shoe size.
No, machine washing can damage the GORE-TEX membrane and the adhesive bond; clean them manually with a damp cloth.
Ensure the shoe is tied correctly and that water is not entering through the top ankle opening; verify the membrane is not punctured by sharp debris.
While the AHAR+ outsole is excellent for mud and dirt, be cautious on smooth, wet rock as even the best trail lugs can struggle with low-friction surfaces.
