Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Birkenstock Boston Clogs arrive ready to wear. The only 'setup' required is to adjust the metal buckle strap to achieve a comfortable and secure fit. The strap should be snug enough to hold the clog to your foot without being overly tight, allowing for natural foot movement.
Compatibility
- Unisex Design: These clogs are designed for both men and women, offering a versatile style.
- Seasonality: The closed-toe design and breathable materials make them suitable for all seasons, though they are not waterproof and should be protected from heavy rain or snow.
- Foot Type: The anatomical footbed is beneficial for most foot types, providing support for arches and proper toe alignment.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and preserve the look of your Boston Clogs:
- Oiled Nubuck Leather Upper: The greased leather is characterized by its untreated surface. Minor scuffs and marks are part of its natural charm. To clean, gently brush off loose dirt with a soft brush (a dedicated nubuck brush is ideal). For deeper cleaning or to refresh the look, use a specialized leather cleaner and conditioner designed for oiled nubuck or pull-up leathers. Apply conditioner sparingly and buff gently to restore luster. *Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive scrubbing.*
- Cork-Latex Footbed: The cork footbed is durable but sensitive to excessive moisture. If the footbed becomes dirty, wipe gently with a damp cloth and mild soap, then allow it to air dry completely away from direct heat. For odors, specialized footbed refreshers or baking soda can be used. Avoid soaking the footbed.
- EVA Sole: The EVA sole is generally low maintenance. Wipe clean with a damp cloth as needed.
- Drying: If your clogs get wet, always allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or artificial heat sources, which can damage the leather and cork.
- Storage: Store your clogs in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures.
