Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper preparation and application are key to achieving the best results with Ronseal One Coat Everywhere paint.
Surface Preparation
- General: Always ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, and loose material.
- Previously Painted Walls: Sand loose or flaking paint to create a smooth base, then clean the surface thoroughly.
- Bare Plaster: Ensure the plaster is completely dry and sealed before painting. *Info needed: Specific sealant recommendations if any.*
- Wood: Lightly sand the wood surface and clean it. Fill any holes with an appropriate wood filler and treat knots to prevent bleed-through.
- Metal: Sand any loose paint and clean the surface. For ferrous metals (metals containing iron), it is crucial to use a specialist metal primer first to ensure adhesion and prevent rust.
Application Instructions
- Stir Well: Before and during use, thoroughly stir the paint to ensure an even consistency and color.
- Color Consistency: If you are using multiple tins of the same color, mix them together in a larger container before starting to guarantee consistent color across your entire project.
- Apply Generously: Use a brush or roller to apply the paint generously. Work methodically from dry areas into wet areas to maintain a wet edge and avoid lap marks.
- Avoid Thinning: Do not thin the paint. It is formulated for optimal consistency directly from the tin.
- Coverage: Aim for a generous coat. Spreading too thinly may compromise the one-coat performance, especially over darker or contrasting colors. An additional coat may be needed for bold color changes, applied after 2-4 hours.
Drying & Recoating
- Touch Dry: The paint will be touch dry in approximately 1 hour.
- Recoat Time: If a second coat is desired or needed for full coverage over contrasting colors, wait 2-4 hours before reapplying.
Compatibility
- This paint is formulated for interior use only on walls, ceilings, wood, and metal.
Care
- Cleaning: Its washable formula allows for easy cleaning of stains and marks with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
- Equipment Cleaning: Clean brushes and rollers immediately after use with warm, soapy water.
