Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Academy boots is straightforward. Simply lace them up using the traditional lacing system to achieve a secure and customized fit. Ensure the laces are snug but not overly tight, allowing for natural foot movement without restriction. Before your first use, consider a short break-in period to allow the NIKESKIN upper to conform to your foot shape for optimal comfort.
Compatibility
These boots feature an FG/MG soleplate, meaning they are designed for optimal performance on two primary surface types:
- Firm Ground (FG): Natural grass pitches that are firm or slightly damp.
- Multi-Ground (MG): Modern artificial grass (3G/4G) surfaces.
Avoid using these boots on hard ground (HG) or soft ground (SG) surfaces, as this can lead to premature wear of the studs and potentially reduce grip.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your boots:
- Clean After Each Use: Remove excess dirt and debris immediately after playing. Use a soft brush or cloth to wipe down the upper and soleplate.
- Hand Wash: For deeper cleaning, use a mild soap or specialist boot cleaner with lukewarm water and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing.
- Rinse Thoroughly: Ensure all soap residue is rinsed off.
- Air Dry: Allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight, radiators, or tumble dryers, as extreme heat can damage materials and adhesives.
- Stuff with Paper: To help maintain their shape and absorb moisture, you can stuff the boots with newspaper during drying.
- Store Properly: Store your boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
